又称拉力墩或锚固墩。为了使斜拉桥的主跨结构刚度不受边跨主梁挠曲的影响往往在边跨拉索的锚固点设置联杆与下部支墩相连。这样索力的垂直分力所产生的拉力可直接由支墩承受,减小了边跨主梁的挠曲从而大大提高了主跨的刚度。这种为了提高结构的整体刚度而设置的中间支墩称为辅助墩。
