补益药，是以补益人体物质亏损、增强人体活动机能、提高抗病能力、消除虚弱证候为主要作用的一类中药。又称补虚药、补养药。 此类药物的作用可概括为补虚扶弱。具有益气、养血、滋阴、助阳的作用。结合药物的归经，又分别具有大补元气、补气升阳、补肺气、补脾气、补心气、补心血、补肝血、补肺阴、补胃阴、补肝阴、补肾阴、补肾阳、补精血、强筋骨等不同作用。
