街市也称墟市，是一种相对于超级市场的传统市场，通常在一个社区中会有一个。它所贩卖的商品主要是各式各样新鲜的蔬菜、尚未宰杀的鸡、鱼等等，除此之外，在这之中，也可能有餐饮店、杂货店、服饰店等商店坐落于其中。部份的传统市场新年前会卖年货（年宵），在夜晚则会变成夜市。 传统市场贩卖的食材新鲜，且可让人杀价或要求赠品，所以广受家庭主妇所喜爱，主妇们通常于白天在此购买接下来一两天做菜时所需要的食材。
