行星波，又称罗斯贝波。是一种长波，波长（两个相邻槽线或脊线之间的东西距离）为3000~10000km，相当于50~120个经距。全纬圈约为3~7个波，振幅一般为10~20个纬距，平均移动速度在10个经距/日以下，有时很慢，呈准静止，甚至会向西倒退。在中高纬度地区，其水平尺度可大到同地球半径相比拟。
