血管内皮细胞瘤是起源于血管内皮细胞的恶性肿瘤。一般根据其肿瘤组织形态细胞分化程度分为两级：一是中间型（低度恶性），细胞分化较好，多无转移；一是血管肉瘤，分化差，高度恶性，转移率高，死亡率高。两者均可以有单发和多发的表现。WHO统计：中间型的血管内皮细胞瘤占原发骨肿瘤的0.28%，血管肉瘤占0.23%。
