甲壳动物亚门十足目腹胚亚目短尾下目（Brachyura）物种的统称。歪尾下目中的瓷蟹、寄居蟹、椰子蟹、蝉蟹虽也称为“蟹”，但蟹类在分类学上并不包括歪尾派中的种。全世界蟹类约有4500余种，中国约有近800种，其中不少种具有重要经济价值。
