虱目(Anoplura) 是指属于昆虫纲有翅亚纲Pterygota的一种，包括体虱、头虱、阴虱、兽虱等，通称虱子。与食毛目近缘。体小，扁平无翅。头略呈圆锥形，触角短小，3～5节。复眼退化或消失，无单眼。口器刺吸式，具不分节的喙，喙的前端开口具微齿列，口器不用时缩入头内。胸部狭小，胸节多愈合。足粗短，攀悬式，跗节1节，末端具1强大的弯向内侧的爪，与胫节端部的突起钳合以夹持毛发，腹部9节，无尾须。已知500种，我国已知50种左右。
