蓝闪石（兰闪石）（Glaucophane）是拆自于两个希腊字，原意是指「蓝色的 蓝闪石 (Bluish)」和「出现(to appear)」之意，与蓝闪石外观相近，故有此意。蓝闪石是闪石矿物中的一种，是钠、镁和铝的硅酸盐矿物。蓝闪石很常见到。
区内含蓝闪石岩的原岩包括优地槽内发育的各类富钠火山岩、含富钠火山质的沉积岩。
