余秋雨，1963年考入上海戏剧学院戏剧文学系，1967年毕业留校任教。“文革”结束后为该院讲师、教授，并曾任副院长、院长职务。主讲美学、中国现代文学史、戏剧理论史等课程,所著《戏剧理论史稿》、《戏剧审美心理学》、《中国戏剧文化史述》、《艺术创造工程》分获全国戏剧理论著作奖、国家文化部优秀教材一等奖等奖项。散文集《文化苦旅》为他带来不虞之誉，被目为学者型散文创作，与后出的系列散文《山居笔记》同受境内外华文文学界称赏。
