船体(俗称“壳体”或“船壳”)是由一系列板材和骨架(简称“板架”)所组成的。板材和骨架间，相互连接又互相支持。骨架是壳体的支撑件，既提高了壳板的强度与刚度，又增强了板材的抗失稳能力。船体由龙骨、旁龙骨、龙筋、肋骨、船首柱、船尾柱等构件组成。实际船舶的船体结构是十分复杂的，而舰船模型的船体结构简单。
