理论上讲，航空法（air law）是规定领空主权、管理空中航行和民用航空活动的法律规范的总称，是调整民用航空活动及其相关领域中产生的社会关系的法律。这是广义的航空法。 狭义的航空法，专指航空法典，如我国的《民用航空法》、美国的《1958年联邦航空法》、俄罗斯《联邦航空法》、英国《民用航空法》等。 此外，国际法视角看，航空法又专指调整国际航空运输活动的一系列条约体系构成的“国际航空法”。
