膝关节骨性结构虽不稳定，但关节周围和关节内有较坚强的韧带和肌肉保护，故膝关节脱位较为少见。偶有脱位也是在强大的直接暴力撞击胫骨上端或间接暴力使膝关节受旋转或过伸性损伤，致胫骨上端向后、向前两侧脱位。完全脱位时，不仅关节囊破裂，十字韧带、内外侧副韧带、半月板以及周围肌肉的撕裂；甚至合并胫骨棘、胫骨结节撕脱性骨折和股骨髁骨折。内侧脱位严重者可发生腓总神经牵拉性损伤。严重后脱位者，可致腘动、静脉破裂、栓塞、压迫，引起肢体坏死和缺血性挛缩。
