腱鞘包于某些长肌腱表面，多位于腱通过活动范围较大的关节外。腱鞘由外层的腱纤维鞘和内层的腱滑膜鞘共同组成。腱滑膜鞘呈双层套管状，分内、外二层。内层紧包于肌腱的表面；外层紧贴于腱纤维鞘的内面。内、外二层之间含有少量滑液。内、外二层相互移行的部分，称腱系膜，内有血管、神经通过。腱鞘内有少量的滑液，可起约束肌腱的作用，并可减少肌腱在运动时的摩擦。
