脱硅是指在湿热的生物气候条件下，土壤铝硅酸盐中的硅因水解作用从矿物中析出，并经化学运移而流失的过程。在高温多雨的条件下，土壤硅酸盐黏土矿物风化作用加速，钾、钠、钙、镁等离子从土壤中流失殆尽。脱盐基的土壤晶格解体后，在金属离子水解产生的碱性溶液中，硅酸呈可溶态，二氧化硅从硅酸中沉淀析出并流失。
