胞囊是指低等植物和原生动物在休止状态或外界环境条件改变时，身体外围分泌一种蛋白质的膜，以度过恶劣环境。 原生动物的身体构造一般都很简单，繁殖能力强。在寄生性的原生动物当中，能够看到形成胞囊的一些特殊现象。胞囊包有一层非常坚实的膜，即便被排出体外，也可以生存很长的时间。具有这种状态的称之为抵抗型或感染型。
