背鳍（Dorsal Fin）指的是鱼背部的鳍。沿水生脊椎动物的背中线而生长的正中鳍，为生长在背部的鳍条所支持的构造。主要对鱼体起平衡的作用。如果剪掉背鳍，鱼就会侧翻，不能直立。 但有些体形长的鱼类，背鳍和臀鳍可以协助身体运动，并推动机体急速前进。如带鱼的背鳍、电鳗的臀鳍、海鳗的背鳍和臀鳍都能推动机体向前运动。又如特殊体形的海马，也是靠细小的背鳍运动来推动机体前进。
