肝动脉是腹腔动脉的三大分支之一。其由腹腔动脉发出为肝总动脉;在十二指肠第1部上方，先后分出胃右动脉、胃十二指肠动脉后，本干称肝固有动脉;与门静脉、胆总管在肝十二指肠韧带内上行，多数在第1肝门外分为左、右肝动脉，少数分成左、中、右3个分支，分别进入左、右肝叶。右肝动脉入肝前分出胆囊动脉。在40%以上的患者中可见到解剖上的变异。这些血管分布和变异对腹腔动脉或肝动脉造影读片时很重要。肝动脉供血量为全肝血供的25%左右，供氧量约为50%。
