Donald Bunnell and his wife, Beth, bought a shikumen with heavy stone walls and courtyards and commissioned Wallis to convert an interior courtyard into a minimal reflecting pool with a lit fountain.
“我们最初考虑在上海生活时，发现许多外籍人士想住在城里，但他们没法住，”综合能源控股公司(Synthesis Energy Systems)首席执行官邦耐尔表示。
"When we first investigated living in Shanghai, we found that a lot of expats wanted to live in the city but they couldn't do it," says Bunnell, chief executive officer of Synthesis Energy Systems.
