群体生态学（synecology）是研究一定栖息地范围内同种或异种生物群体与环境之间的相互关系的科学。群体生态学是相对个体生态学而言的，群体生态学又分为种群生态学（population ecology）和群落生态学（community ecology）两部分。也有人把群体生态学与群落生态学等同。有的书中巴生物群落穴（biocenology）、生物社会学（biosociology）或群落生态学（community ecology）都作为群体生态学的同义词。
