传说中周穆王驾车用的八匹骏马，传说能日行万里（一说三万里）。八马名具体说法不一，主要有：以马的毛色命名：赤骥，盗骊，白义，逾轮，山子，渠黄，华骝，绿耳。（见《穆天子传》卷一）
放牛山石英岩系为经低绿片岩相变质的粗陆源碎屑岩。顶、底界线清晰，与下伏太古宙变质花岗岩系及上覆中元古界熊耳群均呈角度不整合接触。
