绿竹为竹的一类，因竹身全绿而得名。别名甜竹、吊丝竹，俗称“马蹄笋”，为最著名笋用竹种。秆可作家具、农具或劈篾编织竹器，或作造纸原料，其中层竹材可入药，有解热之效。绿竹可作为笋用竹；随着技术的发展，绿竹材也用于造纸和生长重组竹。绿竹主产于华南地区，是主产地的经济来源之一。
