组态空间(configuration space)：一个系统的瞬时组态被n个广义坐标的值所描述，并且与笛卡尔高维坐标空间中的一个点对应，在这个空间中每一个广义坐标都在其n维坐标轴上，这样的一个n维空间被称为组态空间。
假如组态起始于最后一个坡顶的右侧，球将会滚到无穷远处，而此隐藏空间的大小将会无止境地增加(将停止隐藏)。
