纵坡指的是路线纵断面上同一坡段两点间的高差与其水平距离之比，以百分率表示。顺着公路前进方向的上下坡，叫公路纵坡。它与汽车的动力特性、安全正常有很大关系。公路纵坡包含最大纵坡、最小纵坡、最大（或陡坡）的缓坡，以及相应坡长。
