红花草，又名紫云英.是豆科黄芪属越年生草本植物，多在秋季套播于晚稻田中，作早稻的基肥，是我国稻田最主要的冬季绿肥作物。紫云英的主要优良品种，早熟种有乐平、常德、闽紫1号等，中熟种有余江大叶、萍宁3号、闽紫6号等，晚熟品种有宁波大桥、浙紫5号等。紫云英除用作绿肥外，还能直接或青贮紫云英作饲料，营养价值颇高。 春季开满田野，宛如紫云，煞是好看。
