红皮病型银屑病是由寻常型银屑病进展期使用刺激性较强药物或长期大量应用皮质类固醇药物，减量或停药方法不当所致。脓疱性银屑病在脓疱消退过程中，也可出现红皮病。本病约占银屑病1%。本病早期在原有银屑病皮损部位出现潮红，迅速扩延成大片，全身最后呈现弥漫性潮红浸润，常有片状正常“皮岛”，为本病的特征之一。常伴发热、畏寒、头痛、全身不适等。
