紧压茶，是以黑毛茶、老青茶、做庄茶及其它适合制毛茶为原料，经过渥堆、蒸、压等典型工艺过程加工而成的砖形或其它形状的茶叶。紧压茶的多数品种比较粗老，干茶色泽黑褐，汤色澄黄或澄红。在少数民族地区非常流行。 紧压茶有防潮性能好，便于运输和储藏，茶味醇厚，适合减肥等特点。
黑茶可直接冲泡饮用，也可以压制成紧压茶(如各种砖茶)。
