国朝潘耒撰。耒字次耕，号稼堂，吴江人。康熙己未召试博学鸿词，授翰林院检讨。耒受业於顾炎武。炎武之韵学，欲复古人之遗。耒之韵学，则务穷後世之变。其法增三十六母为五十母，每母之字横播为开口、齐齿、合口、撮口四呼。四呼之字各纵转为平、上、去、入四声，四声之中各以四呼分之。惟入声十类，馀三声皆二十四类，凡有字之类二十二，有声无字之类二。
