又称组指数。把产品或商品分戊大类，蝇察大类产品或商品的数量或价格变动的指数。分析计会经济现象的变动，可以把指数法与分组法结合使用，即对总指数所反映的多事物进行分类与分组，按类；十算统计指数。例如，粮食类价格指数，油料类价格指数等等。从理论上讲，类指数的计算方法与总指数基本相同，它也包含了不能直接相加的多种事物，在计算总指数时，它有时起个体指数的作用。
