筛骨是位于蝶骨的前方和两眶之间，上接额骨鼻部并突入鼻腔内。筛骨前面观呈中字形。全骨分为筛板、垂直板和筛骨迷路三部分。水平位的中间骨板为筛板，在水平方向上分隔颅腔前部与鼻腔，板的正中有向上突起的鸡冠，其两侧有许多筛孔。筛板正中向下延伸的正中矢状位骨板为垂直板，参与构成骨性鼻中隔。筛骨迷路位于垂直板两侧，由菲薄的骨片围成许多含气小腔为筛小房，又称筛窦。迷路内侧壁上的上、下两个弯曲的骨片，分别为上鼻甲和中鼻甲。
