种群动态模型，种群动态一般指种群的消长以及种群消长与种群参数（如出生、死亡、迁入、迁出等）间的数量关系。数学模型即定量描述种群动态的数学公式；包括建立模型、根据模型进行预测、在实际中验证预测、修正原有模型、……如此反复使模型不断完善而更能接近实际。模型不仅有助于预测，而且对于无法进行实验的大规模的生态学系统，也可以通过模型在电子计算机上进行模拟实验。因而模型研究已成为生态学的一个重要研究方法。
