社会哲学是一个哲学分支学科。其是对社会交往、社会关系和/或社会团体活动的一般规律性的研究，但社会哲学的研究对象与研究范围并没有一个确定的解释。社会哲学不是社会学，社会学扩大了社会哲学的范围，而且它也没有强调社会哲学作为哲学的一个分支是对社会的一般的普遍的规律的研究，而且也并不涉及社会学的特殊规律与技术性的方法的研究。社会哲学不是对社会学概念的解释和逻辑分析，它的缺陷就在于过于强调思辨的研究，而且把社会哲学的范围限制得过窄。
