磁热效应是指绝热过程中铁磁体或顺磁体的温度随磁场强度的改变而变化的现象。 在磁场作用下磁性材料所发生的温度变化,即磁性材料磁化强度的变化所伴随的温度变化。通常,在绝热条件下, 磁化会导致温度上升,而去磁则使温度下降。铁磁和顺磁材料的磁热效应特别大。
