磁层亚暴（英文：Magnetospheric Substorm），简称亚暴，是指发生在地球夜半球太空区域的巨大能量瞬间释放现象。“亚暴”概念最先是Akasofu和chapman(1977)用来描述磁暴期间出现的短暂的强磁扰动，每次延续2至3小时。磁层亚暴和磁暴是两个既有联系又有区别的过程。 磁层亚暴大约每天发生3至4次，每次释放能量大约相当于一次中等地震的能量。除了引起地球极区空间环境的剧烈变化，其还在地球电离层激发强烈扰动，影响GPS导航信号的接收，以及卫星和地球之间的通信联络。地球上极光强度最大、变化最强烈、也最壮观的区域是南北纬65度到70度的椭圆形带状区域，此区域与磁层亚暴活动最激烈的区域相连。
