硼与金属、某些非金属（如碳）形成的二元化合物。可用通式MmBn表示，一般为间充型化合物，不遵循化合价规则。除了锌（Zn）、镉（Cd）、汞（Hg）、镓（Ga）、铟（In）、铊（Tl）、锗（Ge）、锡（Sn）、铅（Pb）、铋（Bi）以外，其他金属都能形成硼化物。它们都是硬度和熔点很高的晶体，化学性质稳定，热的浓硝酸也不能将它溶解，可由元素直接化合，或用活泼金属还原氧化物制取，用作耐火、研磨和超导材料。
