硫酸钴，玫瑰红色结晶。脱水后呈红色粉末，溶于水和甲醇， 微溶于乙醇。用于陶瓷釉料和油漆催干剂，也用于电镀、碱性电池、生产含钴颜料和其它钴产品，还用于催化剂、分析试剂、饲料添加剂、轮胎胶粘剂、立德粉添加剂等。 2017年10月27日，世界卫生组织国际癌症研究机构公布的致癌物清单初步整理参考，硫酸钴和其他可溶性钴（II）盐在2B类致癌物清单中。
