石室即石室岩，在城厢西郊1里许的山上，有海蚀洞多处，传为古人穴居之所。据传唐代名僧妙应禅师建石室岩佛寺，出入常骑两只驯虎，故又名“伏虎岩”。明成化年间寺圮。陈经邦于明万历五年(1577年)重建。
