矩形螺纹，螺纹牙型为正方形,螺纹牙厚等于螺距的1/2。传动效率高，但对中精度低，牙根强度弱。矩形螺纹精确制造较为困难，螺旋副磨损后的间隙难以补偿或修复。主要用于传力机构中。
在螺纹材料、尺寸、载荷都相同的情况下，三角形螺纹牙所受的剪应力最小，断裂载荷也比梯形螺纹和矩形螺纹高。
