眼斑 某些蝶蛾类和其他昆虫翅上有很象脊椎动物眼睛的大斑点，在动物受惊扰时起保护作用。斑点越象眼睛，保护作用也越大。动物不活动时眼斑隐藏着，一旦受到惊扰，眼斑就会突然暴露，常常可以把小鸟吓跑。有些蝴蝶翅膀下部的小眼斑很醒目，其作用不是吓退捕食者，而是转移捕食者的攻击目标，使身体较重要的部位免遭袭击。因此，眼斑部位比翅的其他部位更容易缺失，常有鸟喙啄过的痕迹。曾有人在活虫翅上画上眼斑，再释放出去，过几天观察到的结果证明了这一点。
