皖西白鹅原产于安徽省六安市大别山区，是中国优良的中型鹅种。该品种是经过长期人工选育和自然驯化而形成的优良地方品种，适应性强、觅食力强、耐寒耐热、耐粗饲、合群性强。早期生长速长快，肉质细嫩鲜美，特别是羽绒产量高、且绒品质优。
