白铅矿成分为碳酸铅，铅有时会被银或铬部分取代：属碳酸盐类、霰石族（aragonite group）、斜方晶系，与稀酸产生化学反应，产生二氧化碳气泡，含Pb77.6%。晶体为板状或假六方双锥状，贯穿双晶常见，一般多为致密块状集合体、钟乳状或土状。白色或浅黄、褐等色。金刚光泽。硬度3-3.5，密度6.4-6.6。遇盐酸起泡。是方铅矿在地表经氧化后的次生矿物。通常与方铅矿一起做为提取铅或制备各种铅化合物的矿物原料。
