今博白县，唐武德六年(623年) ，改南州为白州。天宝元年(742年)，改白州为南昌郡，至乾元元年(758年)复为白州。州郡治博白县（在广西今博白县城）。宋政和元年(1111年)省白州，政和三年，复置白州，博白县又属之。绍兴年间(1131—1162年)，省白州。此后不复置。
