疲劳损伤是指在循环载荷过程中的损伤累积。一般分为高周期疲劳和低周期疲劳。低周期疲劳中，塑性应变足够大，可以测量对应于应力高于屈服极限，循环次数≤10000次。 高周期疲劳指在疲劳过程中不可恢复的应变仅由微塑性构成，应力较低，一般低于屈服极限，但循环次数较高，一般≥100000次。由于微塑性应变较小，不能测量，也不能计算。因此高周期疲劳的损伤演化方程必须用应力给出。
答：疲劳损伤（fatigue damage）就是材料承受高于疲劳极限的交变应力时，每一循环都使材料产生一定量的损伤，导致疲劳强度下降的现象。
