甲状腺囊肿是指在甲状腺中发现含有液体的囊状物。肿块呈圆形，直径多在2～5厘米之间，光滑，一般不疼或轻微疼痛，随着吞咽上下移动。多数是单发结节，少见于多发结节。甲状腺囊内压不高时，质地较为柔软，如果液体较多，质地就会比较坚韧。甲状腺囊肿通常没有症状，除非囊肿很大或囊肿内有出血的现象，这时可能造成一些压迫的症状，如疼痛、吞咽困难、呼吸困难、声音沙哑等。
