甘蔗黑穗病又称甘蔗鞭黑穗病、黑粉病。该病最 甘蔗黑穗病明显特征是病蔗梢头具一条向下卷内的黑色鞭状物，长几厘米至数十厘米不等。鞭中央是由薄壁组织或维管束组织构成的心柱，外围包着一层厚垣孢子。病鞭在形成初期，外包一层银白色薄膜，后破裂散出大量黑粉，最后只剩下心柱。染病种蔗萌芽早，茎细小，叶细长，淡绿，分蘖增多，后分蘖上也长出黑穗鞭。
本试验采用甘蔗愈伤组织作离体培养，在培养基中加入甘蔗黑穗病粗毒素滤液为选择压力。
