熔盐,盐类熔化后形成的熔融体,例如碱金属、碱土金属的卤化物、硝酸盐、硫酸盐的熔融体。熔盐是金属阳离子和非金属阴离子所组成的熔融体。能构成熔盐的阳离子有80 余种,阴离子有30 余种,组合成的熔盐可达2400 余种。由于金属阳离子可有几种不同的价态,阴离子还可组成不同的络合阴离子,实际上熔盐的数目将超过2400 种。
