炮弹是指口径在20mm以上，利用火炮发射，完成杀伤，爆破，侵彻及或其他战术目的作用的弹药。通常包括风帽、弹丸（战斗部）、引信、弹带、底火和药筒（内装发射药）等几部分。 根据装弹方法，分成定装弹和分装弹两种，定装弹将弹丸和药筒合一，装填时，弹丸和药筒一起装填；而分装弹在装填时先装填弹丸，再装填药筒。
