鸟纲隼形目隼科隼属。见于荒漠、草原及灌丛地带开旷田野。嗜食蜥蜴、小鸟、昆虫和啮齿动物。多占用旧巢或在草原荒野地面上营巢。见于武山、兰州、榆中、临洮、玛曲、碌曲、文县。捕食小鸟、昆虫和啮齿动物，对调节自然生态系统的平衡有一定作用。国家二级保护野生动物。
