灰土是中国北方传统的建筑材料之一，用黏土、石灰加水拌和夯实而成，是具有灰化淀积层的矿质土壤。为美国农业部土壤分类的一个土纲。其特点是，剖面中有活性铁、铝、非晶质粘粒和腐殖质的淀积层；该层之上为漂白层；土体湿润或潮湿；质地为壤质或砂质；具有高的取决于pH的阳离子交换量和较低的盐基含量。灰土主要分布于湿润寒温带的粗质酸性母质上，包括灰壤、棕色灰化土及潜水灰壤等。
