潍县是指山东省潍坊市（地级）市区解放前的旧称。特产有风筝、年画等，驰名海内外。潍县自古为东莱首邑，北海名城，文风昌盛，科甲蝉联。清代，山东共出了六名状元，光绪年间，就有两名状元出在潍县。 明清乃至民国时期，潍县经济繁荣，乾隆年间曾有“南苏州，北潍县”的说法，曾任职潍县的郑板桥更是留有“三更灯火不曾收，玉脍金齑满市楼；云外清歌花外笛，潍州原是小苏州”的诗句，成为当时潍县社会民生的绝佳写照。
