滇重楼，别名独角莲，是多年生草本植物。根状茎粗壮，茎高20－2500px，无毛，常带紫红色，基部有1～3片膜质叶鞘抱茎。有清热解毒、消肿止痛、凉肝定惊之功效，用于痈肿、咽喉肿痛、毒蛇咬伤、跌打伤痛、惊风抽搐等症。
